Steven W. "Steve" Peterson, 49, of Lisbon, passed away at home on Monday, Jan. 24, 2022, surrounded by loved ones. Celebration of Life Gathering will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 29, at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Solon, located at 100 S. Cedar St., lower level, with a time of sharing and reflection starting at 6 p.m. Inurnment will take place at a later date in Preemption Cemetery in Illinois.
Steve was born July 2, 1972, in Rock Island Ill., to Charles and Judith Peterson. He married Wendy Blair on Nov. 6, 2021, after 14 years of being together. Steve was employed by the University of Iowa facilities management. Steve did architecture since 1994 and had done many buildings in the Iowa City/Coralville area. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle and being with his family, friends and grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Wendy; sons, Keirston (Krystin) and Alex (Kalli) of Anamosa; six grandchildren and one on the way; "adopted" kids, Thomas (Carolina) Connor of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Chloe (Mark) Thorn of Marion and Brit (Taylor) Connor of Lisbon; sisters, Lori Kingston of St. Louis, Mo., Carolyn (Neil) Hofer of Guttenburg, Diana (Tim) Connolly of Epworth, Kimberly (Steve) Allison of Marysville, Ohio, and Amy (Dusty) Townsend of Rose Bud, Ark.; father, Charles; brothers, Terry Murphy of Rock Island, Ill., and Scott (Amanda) Murphy of Arkansas; brother-in-law, Thore (Heather) Hammitt of Edgerton, Kan.; many nieces and nephews; and many friends who he considered family.
Steve was preceded in death by his mom, Judith; a sister, Vicky; one aunt; and two uncles.
Steve would like to express his thanks to UnityPoint Hospice and there is no way that he can express his gratitude to all of his friends and family for all the thoughts and prayers that they have given him over the years and all of the good times with all.
