Steven Don Springer, 64, of Kalona, passed away Jan. 1, 2015, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City after a courageous battle with ALS. As were his wishes, he will be cremated. Inurnment will take place at a later date in Czech National Cemetery, Cedar Rapis.
Steven is survived by his two sons and their families, Phillip Springer and David Springer, both of Austin, Texas; two daughters-in-law, Brittani and Tabitha; four grandchildren, Jonathan, London, Colton and Matthew; and many friends who loved him dearly and will miss him greatly.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Steven was born May 28, 1950, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to Darold and Anna Springer. From 1974 to 2003, he worked as a chiropractor in Kalona, where he lived the majority of his life.
Steven's love and passion was fishing for catfish in the English River and being outdoors where he felt closest to God.
I wish to thank all the people who have extended acts of kindness to me during my illness. The family also wishes to thank everyone who graciously cared for our dad during his battle against ALS.
