Steven was born April 1, 1965, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Dale and Nancy Snyder. He met his wife Tarayssa Fairchild in 2011 along with his stepson Ryan, whom he loved and raised as his own. Steve worked at Storm Steel in Cedar Rapids for many years. He loved racing his stock car at Hawkeye Downs and was a NASCAR fan. He liked watching the Hawkeyes, Vikings and the Cubs. Steve was a member of New City Church and enjoyed coaching church league softball.
Steven is survived by his wife, Tarayssa; stepchildren, Chasity (Scott) Brimeyer, Char Turner, Travis (Damia) Dee and Ryan Fairchild; four grandchildren; his mother, Nancy (Bob Glenn) Thomason; stepbrother, Shane Glenn; stepsister, Shannon (Donnie) Fadeley; brother, David; sister, Ann (Rod) Tierney; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Dale; several aunts, uncles and cousins; and a stepsister and stepbrother.
Steve will always be remembered for his gentle nature and kindness to others. Though he will be missed dearly, he is now without pain, resting in God's arms.
He was deeply loved by his family and friends. His laughter and sense of humor was infectious and his resilience in courage was unwavering. We are grateful for the times we were given.
Memorials may be directed to the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha in his name or to the family.
