Steven Robert Durr was born on March 7, 1950, in Williamsburg, IA to Robert C. and Lois (Austin) Durr. He attended Williamsburg Community Schools and was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. He was united in marriage to Marna (Stohlmann) on August 21, 1976. This union was blessed with two children.
Steven’s years were filled with a membership to the American Motorcycle Club, the Iowa County Archers, he served on the Board of Elders and worked with the youth at St. Paul Lutheran Church. He owned and operated his own business, an ag-industrial repair shop; Durr Repair. Steven and Marna enjoyed their trips on the motorcycle, family trips especially to Michigan, Wisconsin, and Italy. He enjoyed reading specifically science fiction. His hobbies were fishing, hunting, being outdoors, and all things agriculture related. He loved Hunter’s weekend at the beginning of December each year.
Steven was called home to heaven on May 25, 2024. Steven is survived by his wife of 47 years, Marna, his son Matthew (Theresa) Durr of Casper, WY, his daughter Anna Durr of Williamsburg, IA, and two grandsons, William and Thomas Durr of Casper, Wy. He leaves a sister Linda Allar of Marengo, IA and a sister-in-law Jane Stohlmann of Williamsburg, IA. Survivors also include three nephews: Dale Allar of Orchard, NE, Douglas (Mary) Stohlmann, and Joel (Jessica) Stohlmann both of Williamsburg, IA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, parents-in-law, and brother-in-law Duane Stohlmann.
Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 PM on Thursday, May 30, 2024 at the Powell Funeral Home in Williamsburg and a Celebration of Life Service at 10:30 AM on Friday, May 31, 2024 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Williamsburg, IA. Memorials will go to Compass Memorial Hospital and Williamsburg Archery Club.
