Steven was born on Aug. 9, 1957, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Ron and Betty (Finn) Petsel. He married Martha Knapp, with whom he had two wonderful children, Hanna and Aaron. He later married Wendy Long Taulbee on Aug. 21, 2004, in Long Grove. He was employed as an IT specialist with MidAmerican Energy for over 32 years, retiring in 2014. Steve loved attending live music events with friends and family and checking items off of his "must-see band" bucket list. He was also a foodie who enjoyed trying new restaurants and any type of food that might sound questionable to others. Steve was always up for an adventure and loved traveling.
Survivors include his children, Hanna (Andrew) Wood of Cedar Rapids, Aaron Petsel of LeClaire, Holly (Benjamin) Ekblad of Las Vegas, Joshua Taulbee of Port Byron and Meghan Taulbee of Carbon Cliff; father, Ron (Marty) Petsel; grandson, Auliver Wood; and brother, Drew Petsel of New Hampshire.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Wendy; mother and stepfather, Betty and Denny Brogan; a sister, Debbie; and nephew, Justin.
