Steven R. Kohl, 66, of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, Aug. 2, 2021. Family and friends will gather to celebrate his life from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 7, at Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his wife, Sue of Cedar Rapids; son, Christian; granddaughters, MariCatherine "Cati" Hagerman and Sarah Sanders, all of Fairfax; brother, Craig (Mary Bailey) Kohl of Ladora, Iowa; brother-in-law, Darrell (Nancy) Busch of Marion; and sisters-in-law, Cheryl (Perry) Burton of Story, Ark., Doris Bobst of Glenwood, Ark., and Frances Walker of Marion. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, including Gharrett and Derek; great-nieces and nephews; wonderful friends; and his beloved dog, Sasha.
Steve was born March 11, 1955, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Frank and Marion (Comp) Kohl. He graduated from Kennedy High School and Kirkwood Community College. On July 21, 1978, he married Sue Busch. Steve was a jack of all trades, the kind of guy who could fix anything. He spent many years as a small engine mechanic for P&K Midwest, retiring two years ago because of his health.
In his free time, you would always find Steve outdoors. He loved fishing, camping and being at the cabin on the river. With his river hat on and a beer in his hand, he would cook delicious meals for his family. Steve jumped on anything with a motor, especially snowmobiles! When the game was on you would find him watching the Minnesota Vikings and Iowa Hawkeyes.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Sue's parents; and uncle, Bodie Comp.
Please share your support and memories with Steve's family on his Tribute Wall at www.stewartbaxter.com under obituaries.
