Steven "JR" Duane Baker Jr., 30, or Clermont, died Sept. 5, 2018, in Clermont. Visitation services for JR will be Sunday, Sept. 9, 2018, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Quarry Lodge at the Skip-A-Way Campground in Clermont, Iowa, with funeral services to follow. A private burial will occur at a later date.
JR is survived by his companion, Jenny Brehme; brother, Shawn (Shelsea) Baker; sister, Carie (Cory) Fisher; parents, Steve and Terri Baker; and grandmothers, Bev Baker of Clermont,
Iowa, and Pat Roberts of Denver, Colo. He was preceded in death by his brother, Shayne Baker; and two grandfathers, George Roberts and Justin "Skip" Baker.
JR was born on Oct. 6, 1987, to Steve and Terri (Roberts) Baker in West Union, Iowa. He was confirmed at the Marion Lutheran Church in Gunder, Iowa. He attended Valley Community Schools and graduated in 2006. While at Valley, JR joined the wrestling team and represented his team at state his junior and senior years. Following graduation, he attended Upper Iowa University in Fayette, Iowa, where he joined the Peacocks wrestling team. His hard work and dedication gave him the opportunity to wrestle in the NCAA Division II National Championships in 2009. Following college, JR found a love for earthmoving with Baker Enterprises.
In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the JR Baker Memorial Fund at Kerndt Brothers Bank of Clermont.
