Steven James Richardson, 68 a lifelong resident of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Saturday, Sept. 23, 2023, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha, Iowa, following a long battle with several health issues.

Services: 11 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 28, 2023, at Teahen Funeral Home, 3100 F Ave. NW, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Deacon Mike Klappholz (Steve’s first cousin) will officiate the service. Visitation for family and friends will be from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be immediately following the service at Holy Cross Cemetery in Anamosa, Iowa.

Steve was born on Sept. 2, 1955, at Mercy Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the only child born to Mary

Agnes (Byrnes) and Francis "Lefty" Delbert Richardson.

Steve never married and he had no children, and is survived by several cousins and friends.

Steve was preceded in death by his father, Lefty on July 27, 1994, his mother, Mary on April 27, 2017; grandparents; Wilma A. and James D. Byrnes Sr., and Margaret and Henry Richardson, all of his aunts and uncles, numerous cousins and friends.

Steve attended the following schools: St. Patrick Catholic School for kindergarten thru the sixth grade, Roosevelt Junior High School for grades seven thru ninth, John F. Kennedy Senior High School for the 10th, 11th and 12th grades, graduating with the Class of 1974.

Steve, over the years, worked at Amana Refrigeration, Cedar Rapids Roofing, Direct Mailing and Printing and Feiereisen Inc.

Steve enjoyed boating, bowling, woodworking and riding his motorcycle.
