Steven H. Maher, 67, of Iowa City, passed away at home on Tuesday, May 1, 2018.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 8, at the Gay & Ciha Funeral Service in Iowa City, with inurnment to follow at St. Bridget's Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held prior to the service from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday.
Memorials in Steve's name may be made to Friends of St. Bridget's Church.

Steve was born Feb. 17, 1951, in Iowa City, Iowa, son of Harold and Catherine Maher. He graduated from City High and had a long career working with the city of Iowa City, retiring in 2013. He enjoyed time with his sisters and their families, making the trek to visit his sister in Wyoming multiple times a year and talking with all of them regularly. Steve also enjoyed the action of rodeos and was a big fan of eating out.
He is survived by his sisters, Joan Zaiser of Cedar Rapids, Beverly (Garde) Ernst (Don) of Arnold, Mo., Joyce Kessler of Casper, Wyo., and Marie O'Donnell (Mike) of Iowa City. His family also includes numerous extended family members.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents; and brother-in-law, Richard Zaiser.
