Steven G. Rosenberger of Waldenburg, passed peacefully into eternity on Monday, Jan. 8, 2024, at his home with his wife of 39 years and his brother by his side. He had struggled with Waldenstrom’s Macroglobulinemia since 2010, enduring a stroke in 2023, and had recently been bedridden with colorectal cancer.
Steven was born June 16, 1952, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to Gerald and Carolyn Rosenberger. He graduated from Kennedy High School and was a dedicated employee of the City of Cedar Rapids Street Department for 42 years until ill health forced early retirement.
Steve’s passions in life were family, friends, pets, baseball, cycling, and coaching and mentoring youth. In final years he was an avid pickle ball enthusiast, with his best friend, Stan Wiebold.
Steve was preceded in death by his father, mother, younger brother, Larry and stepdaughter Tonnia James.
He is survived by his wife, Laura; his brother Michael of Ingleside, Ill., stepson Jereme Goltz and grandchildren Joshua James, Miles Goltz, Tyler James, Ryaette Goltz and a much anticipated and an already loved granddaughter due in May. Also surviving are his two much loved family pets, Konner and Beep.
Honoring his wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral services. A celebration of Steve’s life is being planned for June.
Anyone wishing to remember Steve with a donation of any kind is asked to consider Safe Haven of Iowa County or Essence of Life Hospice.
Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo is caring for Steve and his family.
