STEVEN FULTS
Cedar Rapids
In the early morning hours of Wednesday, June 1, 2016, Steven Wayne Fults was welcomed into the arms of his Lord, Jesus Christ.
Steve was born Nov. 8, 1957, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Edward and Katherine Fults. He attended school in Cedar Rapids until he left to join the U.S. Army. He proudly served his country during the Vietnam War as a mechanic. Steve worked in maintenance all of his life, including MAAX, Clipper Windpower and Halal Foods. On May 8, 2010, he married Charlene Orr Sawyer at Palisades Kepler State Park.
Steve lived life to its fullest and was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and capturing creation with photography. Steve was a steadfast and faithful father to his boys and he loved his grandchildren well. He shared all he knew, helped and guided them, and in true Peter Pan fashion, he embraced their joy and laughter with them.
Steve spent many hours with family and friends around the woodstove in his garage (also known as the formal living room), wielding his quick sense of humor and recounting many tall tales.
Steve leaves behind his beloved wife, Charlene Fults; two sons, Joseph (Kate) Fults of Cedar Rapids and John (Tawyna) Fults of Marion; three daughters, Marie (Tom) May of Anamosa, Karen (Josh) Long of Coggon and Jayne (Jeff) Milkovich of Marion; an honorary son, Andrew Harrison of Cedar Rapids; and his parents, Ed and Kat Fults, brother, Robert (Sue) Fults, and sister, Chris Fults, all of Cedar Rapids. He also leaves behind 18 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Visitation: 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday, June 5, at Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Cedar Rapids. Funeral services: 10 a.m. Monday, June 6, at Troy Mills Christian Church, by Pastor Tim Pridgeon. Burial with military honors: Troy Mills Cemetery.
There will be a potluck luncheon in the basement of the church following the burial. The family invites you to bring a dish to share.
Memorials are suggested to Lifeline Ministries, 1101 Oakland Rd. NE, Cedar Rapids, IA 52402, to help fund the kitchen project that Steve envisioned.
Please share your support and memories with Steve's family on his tribute wall at www.stewartbaxter.com under obituaries.
