STEVEN DENNIS LADAGE
Lisbon
Steven Dennis LaDage, 75, passed away peacefully in Lisbon, Iowa, on July 30, 2021. At Steven's request, there will not be a funeral or memorial service.
Steven was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Robert and Mary Ladage on Oct. 13, 1945. He worked in the food industry as
a chef for most of his life, living in the Quad Cities for many years and then moving to Key West, Fla., where he resided for close
to 30 years. He owned his own restaurant for a time and was head chef at the Casa Marina, the largest resort on the island at the time. He worked there for many years before retiring. He spent many years volunteering for Relay for Life after overcoming lung cancer, all while battling back from a debilitating stroke. He moved back to Iowa to be closer to family as his health continued to decline. Steve helped and trusted others to a fault, thinking of and treating everyone who was kind to him as a friend. He loved family, the arts, music, dancing, shopping and spoiling friends and family with special and unique gifts. He had a beautiful singing voice and was known for his dry sense of humor. Steve was a lover of all animals: Baby, a big beautiful black cat, Buddha, a sweet terrier mix and Roco, a darling Yorkie mix all shared a special place in his heart.
Steve shared an especially close relationship with his sister Nadine, referring to her as his "baby sister" up until the day of his passing. He was very close to his nephew Brent and so proud of his family and all he'd accomplished.
Steve is survived by brothers, James D. Ladage (Lisa) of Wichita, Kansas, Kenneth R. Ladage (Paula) of Marion Iowa; sister, Nadine M. Ladage Garrett (Ron) of Fairfax Iowa; as well as nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Francis Ladage; father, Robert James Ladage; and brother, Mark Jon Ladage.
Steve and his sister would like to extend their sincere thanks to the entire staff at the Lisbon Rehabilitation Center for their patience, kindness and exceptional care. Thank you to Care Initiatives Hospice for their compassionate care during his final days.
Memorials may be given to Relay for Life, at cancer.org.
