Steven C. Blume, 54, passed away Sunday, Oct. 25, 2015, from a sudden illness at his home in Oxford Mills. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday, Oct. 29, at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Oxford Junction. Funeral services will begin at noon. Burial will follow at the Mayflower Cemetery. Lahey Funeral Home in Oxford Junction is serving the family.
Steven was born on Sept. 20, 1961, in Maquoketa, Iowa, the son of Charles and Geraldine (Bizek) Blume. He graduated from Oxford Junction High School in 1980 and enlisted in the U.S. Army. He served in Germany and was honorably discharged in 1982. Steven was previously employed at Sheller Globe for 11 years, Betterway Carpet Cleaning and Temp Services. He was a member of the St. Mark's Lutheran Church. He was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed trout fishing. Steven took great pride in his family, gardening and yard work.
He is survived by his mother, Geraldine; three sisters, Brenda (Larry) Otte of Oxford Junction, Laurie (Steve) Jansen of Anamosa and Rhonda (Todd) Jeffery of Wyoming; seven nieces and nephews; and nine great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Blume; and his grandparents.
