Steve Shaffer, 66, of Springville, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, Oct. 15, 2016, from injuries suffered in a motor vehicle accident. Private family burial for Steve and his beloved dog, Harley, will take place at Green Cemetery, Morley, at a later date. Arrangements by Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion.
Steve is survived by his wife, Judy; son, Cody (Carrie) Shaffer of Morning Sun; daughter, Kimberly (Jacob) Cowger of Marion; grandson, CK; sisters, Carolyn, Darlene and Debbie; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and dog, Harley.
Steve was born April 22, 1950, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Herbert and Eleanor (Boots) Shaffer. He graduated from Olin Consolidated School in 1969. On Oct. 14, 1972, he married Judy Jo Dauber at Springville United Methodist Church.
Steve was a member of Sons of American Legion. As a truck driver, Steve transported goods for Batesville Casket Co., Schwan's, Little Debbie and various other trucking companies. He also was owner/operator of Shaffer Trucking.
Steve lived in Springville for 42 years. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, NASCAR and spending time with friends at the Legion. He loved traveling the United States in his semi with his dog, Harley, as his co-pilot.
