On March 30, 1952, Steve was born in Cedar Rapids, the son of Wes and Marietta (Seckel) Heller. He was baptized April 27, 1952, by the Rev. Spitz at the old St. John's Lutheran Church on Hilton Street. On April 3, 1966, Steve was confirmed by the Rev. Discher at St. John's Lutheran Church on Court Avenue.
