Steve Duke, 58, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer at his home surrounded by his family and friends on Thursday, March 23, 2023. Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, March 27, 2023, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Funeral Mass: 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 28, 2023, at St. Ludmila Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids.
Steve was born on Feb. 8, 1965, in Hammond, Ind. He graduated from Cedar Rapids Prairie High School in 1983. Steve was employed as an electrician for the University of Iowa.
He enjoyed golfing and loved to hunt ducks. Steve was a big fan of the Hawkeyes, Yankees and the Dolphins. He loved hosting friends and family for weekend parties. His greatest joy was spending time with his granddaughters. Steve will be missed by everyone who knew and loved him.
Steve is survived by his loving wife, Cheryl; children, Cameron (Christina) Duke, Cami (Joe) Zlatohlevek, Dylan (Devin) Pond, Jordan (Cody) Palmer and Jayden (Carter) Pond; granddaughters, Piper and Ana; parents, Christina (Bob) Slagle; sisters, Lynette (Ken) Schreder and Kristen Oldenburger; nieces and nephews, Brennan, Colin, Jordan, Justin, Connor, Kylee, Megan, Olivia, Drew, Adam and Alex.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Vanessa Young.
