STEVE J. "BIG DADDY" DOROTHY
Anamosa
Steve J. "Big Daddy" Dorothy of Anamosa passed away Friday, May 26, 2017, at home surrounding by his loving family after a courageous battle of cancer.
Steve was born Nov. 5, 1954, to John and Eleanor (Hinz) Dorothy. He graduated from Anamosa High School in 1973 and also worked at Hawkeye Ready Mix and the city of Marion (Public Works department). On Feb. 5, 1978, he was united in marriage to Becky J. Weets, and was blessed with their daughter, Jessica Dorothy, completing their family.
Steve is survived by his daughter, Jessica (Ryan) Miller; three grandchildren, Ethan, Isabella and Isaac; and brothers, John (Debra) Dorothy of Peoria, Ill., Mark (Nancy) Dorothy of North Fort Myers, Fla., and Jim Dorothy of Portland, Ore.
He was a sweet, kind-hearted man, loving father and husband, who cared deeply for his family and friends. He enjoyed spending his time attending vintage car events with family and friends. He showed us how beautiful the world was through the lens of a camera.
Celebration of Life will be held Monday, May 29, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
A memorial fund has been established in his name to Camp Courageous.
