Steuber, Donald H.
Donald H. Steuber, 79, of Cedar Rapids, died peacefully Monday, June 20, 2011, in his home surrounded by his family. Services: 11 a.m. Thursday, June 23, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Cedar Rapids, by Pastor Offt and Pastor Miller. Visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. today, June 22, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his wife, Eileen; children, Robert J. Steuber of Johnston and Renee Steuber-Hudson (Al Hudson) of Martelle; grandchildren, Tressa Steuber and Tyler Steuber, both of Johnston; and brother, Robert F. Steuber of Cedar Rapids.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Kathryn Steuber; and sister-in-law, Ruth Steuber.
Born April 13, 1932, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Donald was the son of Frederich and Anna (Krahling) Steuber. On Feb. 18, 1961, he was united in marriage to Eileen Rittmer at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids. Donald served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean conflict. For 35 years, he worked at Square D retiring as a manager of the Plastic Molding Division in 1990. He then worked for the Amana Golf Course as a ranger for 10 years.
Donald was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, the VFW, the American Legion and the Elks Club. He was an avid Hawkeye, Cubs and Bears fan and enjoyed golfing, fishing, NASCAR racing and the national sprint car races in Knoxville. In his younger years he also enjoyed bowling. Donald and Eileen thoroughly enjoyed spending their winters in Yuma, Ariz., for 12 years.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Fusselman, Heidi and all the staff at the Iowa Blood and Cancer Center for their expert care. They also would like to thank Mercy Hospice for all of their care and support for Don and our family during this difficult time.
