Stern, Pauline C.
Pauline C. Stern, 82, a resident of the Winslow House Care Center, died there Sunday, April 15, 2012 after a long illness. Services at 1 p.m. Friday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Private family burial at Linwood Cemetery. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday. Per Pauline's wishes the casket will be closed at all times.
Survivors include three daughters, Sherri Lietz and her husband Ron of Cedar Rapids, Nancy Marsh of Hiawatha, and Pat Cumberlin and her husband Gary of Bristolville, Ohio; three sons, David Hauk and his wife Cindy of Cedar Rapids, Michael Hauk of Marion, and Steven Hauk and his wife Terry of Cedar Rapids; three brothers, Cliff Coon and his wife Nancy of Sundance, Wy., Robert Coon of Morning Sun, and Marvin Coon and his wife Linda of Burlington; and one sister, Dorothy Swafford of Morning Sun. She is also survived by four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Donald.
Pauline was born October 30, 1929 in Morning Sun, the daughter of George and Abbie Cole Coon. She married Elmer Hauk in 1949 in Cedar Rapids. They were later divorced. She later married John Stern in Cedar Rapids. He died in 1976. Pauline worked in assembly at Rockwell Collins and retired from there after more than 28 years of service. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary.
Pauline enjoyed crocheting, her flower garden, and especially the time spent with her friends and beloved family. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
