Sterling Grayson McFerren, six month old son of David McFerren and Brooke Zimmer, of Marion, Iowa, passed away on Monday, Sept. 26, 2022. Despite his short time on earth, he was deeply loved and brought immense joy to those around him. Visitation will be held from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, 2022, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Marion, with Celebration of Life starting at 2 p.m. Interment will follow at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The family asks that you please dress casually.
Sterling was born on March 16, 2022, joining his siblings, Charlie and Astrid. His siblings were ecstatic for their new baby brother and he brought incredible joy to his family. Sterling was known for his big blue eyes, deep dimples, enormous smiles and giant belly laughs when tickled. He was so perfect. Sterling loved watching his sister do gymnastics and brother play football and run track. He is Our Precious Little Angel, who will never be forgotten.
Sterling will be forever missed and loved by his parents, David and Brooke of Marion; siblings, Charlie Bloom and Astrid McFerren; grandparents, Kellie (Tom) Steffenson of Marion and Clark (Laurence) McFerren of Iowa City, Iowa; great-grandparents, Colleen (Chuck) Svoboda of Mechanicsville. Iowa, Gordon (Shirley) Steffenson of Waukon, Iowa, and Dave (Sue) Zimmer of West Des Moines, Iowa; aunts and uncles, Tate (Amelia Meyers) Steffenson, Trey Steffenson and Eric McFerren; and cousins, Rylan and Kasyn.
He is being greeted in Heaven by his uncle, Mitch Mullan; great-grandparents, Floyd and Antoinette Begin and John David and Helen McFerren; and great-great-grandmother, Betty Mae Johnson.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family to be designated at a later date.
