Stephenson, Janice Lujean
Janice Lujean Stephenson, was born Oct. 13, 1937, in Richland, Iowa, the daughter of Ralph and Edith (Derby) Derby. She graduated from What Cheer High School. On Sept. 22, 1954, she married Robert Stephenson in What Cheer, Iowa. She worked in the production department and retired from Leer. She enjoyed doing puzzles, embroidering and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Janice died on Sunday, Feb. 13, 2011, at Simpson Memorial Home in West Liberty, from complications of scleroderma, at the age of 73 years and 4 months.
She is survived by her husband, Robert of West Liberty; a son, Larry Stephenson of Webster; five daughters, Brenda (John) Lown of Webster, Peggy (Duane) Van Dee of North English, Cathy (Ron) Fry of Sigourney, Rhonda (Dennis) Hibler of Oskaloosa, and Dana (Ron) Aubrecht of Nichols; 12 grandchildren, Brian Stephenson, Jeremi (Samantha) Lown, Matthew (Danyl) Lown, Stephanie Lown, Kedra (Derek) Jackson, Wendy Shelley, Josh Icenbice, Tyler (Leigh) Van Dee, Toby Fry, R.J. (Ashley) Fry, Spencer Fry and Cody Aubrecht; 10 great-grandchildren, Riley and Logan Jackson, Keyden and Kailor Lown, Lacey Sanders, Jozie and Gabby Shelley, Dillon and Peyton Icenbice and Maddison Fry; and a sister, Pam Glandon of Keosauqua.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Alan Stephenson; a sister, Karen Cranston; a daughter-in-law, Leeann Davis.
There will be no services. Burial will be at a later date in the Indianapolis Cemetery, rural What Cheer. A memorial fund has been established for the Webster United Methodist Church.
The family would like to thank Simpson Memorial Home Staff and Iowa City Hospice for their wonderful care of Janice and her family.
