Stephen “Steve” W. Lindsey, 68, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2023, at Harmony Cedar Rapids. Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, Nov. 29, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Classic Event Center in Cedar Rapids, where a memorial service will begin at 7 p.m.
Stephen was born on Sept. 11, 1955, in Vinton, Iowa, the son of William and Suzanne (Baird) Lindsey. He graduated from Jefferson High School in Cedar Rapids with the Class of 1974. Steve worked at the Cedar Rapids Community School District warehouse for many years. He later worked as a driver for Scotty’s Drywall and then Precision Drywall.
Many knew Steve for calling bingo over three decades at multiple locations in Cedar Rapids, which he really enjoyed and certainly had the voice for. Steve also enjoyed reading the Gazette, drinking Pepsi, playing slots, cheering for the Chicago Bears and Iowa Hawkeyes football teams, humor, and cats.
Steve is survived by his children, Nicole and Christopher, his granddaughter, Jada, his sister, Theresa (Jim) Kvidahl, all of Cedar Rapids; his brother, Scott (Julie) Lindsey of Central City; and four nephews. He was preceded in death by his father William “Bill” Lindsey, his mother Suzanne “Suzie” Brawner, his stepfather “Joe” Brawner, and his brothers David and John.
Steve’s family wants to thank the staff at Harmony Cedar Rapids for their care of him.
Instead of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
