Stephen Drahos, 67, of Mount Vernon, died Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2017, with his sons by his side after a battle with cancer. Gathering of family and friends: 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 21, at Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Mount Vernon.
Survivors include his sons, Dylan (Faith) and Spencer Drahos; grandchildren, Blake and Paige Drahos; daughter, Stephanie; brothers, Sylvester "Sub" and Paul Drahos; many extended family members; and his beloved dog, Julious "Juju."
Stephen James Drahos was born Feb. 16, 1949, in Cedar Rapids, to Albin and Anne (Dvorak) Drahos. He graduated from Mount Vernon High School in 1967, then joined Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 125 to become a project manager for Bowker Mechanical Contractors.
Steve enjoyed his career and was a hard worker. He especially loved spending time with his beloved family and dog, Juju. Though quiet, Steve was a very caring person, who many people liked. He especially cared for his loving companion, Malissa, who died just short of one year before Steve.
Steve was very proud of his sons, who will miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents; beloved wife, Malissa; and brothers, Gilbert and Dennis.
