STEPHEN CARSNER Marion Stephen D. Carsner, 74, passed away Friday, May 15, 2015, at Mechanicsville Nursing and Rehab following a short illness. Steve was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marcene. Marcy was the light of his life. His soul is now at peace by her side, and for that, his family is thankful to God. His mother, Mary Elizabeth, and his father, Louis Gilbert Carsner, along with his brother, Jim, all were there with Marcy to welcome him home to heaven. Steve left behind many to remember him and mourn his passing from life. His daughter, Darcie Carsner Torres, and his son-in-law, Mauro, particularly grieve his passing. We, along with his grandsons, Nick and Kaden, will miss his presence in our home, snoozing and smiling, rolling and shuffling, making our lives a little lighter when he was here. He also left behind a beloved sister, Phyllis (Bill) Forcht; two brothers, Louis (Carol) Carsner and Stu Carsner; numerous nieces and nephews who love Uncle Steve, including especially, Kenneth and Kevin Carsner, Mary Kay Kennedy and Brenda Bassett Brown. He also leaves behind a dearly beloved stepdaughter, Tammy (Ed) Mims. Steve worked at Rockwell Collins for 37 years and talked frequently this last year of the many friends he made there, and they were in his memory during his last days. He was an avid fisherman during his life. No bass in Delhi, Rathbun or Coralville was safe while he held a pole. He was also a truly creative soul, well known for his handcrafted pieces and his furniture-making. Steve was also a deep lover of dogs. He is now surrounded by his lifelong furry children, Pinky, Tizzy, Bubba and Noodle. In lieu of flowers, Steve would deeply appreciate memorial contributions to the Cedar Valley Humane Society. The family will hold a memorial celebration of life at 1 p.m. Friday, May 22, at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories, sharing memories and refreshments with family and friends at a reception thereafter at the Cedar Memorial Family Center.
