Stephen "Steve" Mark Anderson, 62, of Ely, died Sunday, Oct. 26, 2014, at his home. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 29, at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling St. SW. Celebration of Life services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 31, at Faith Lutheran Church in Merrill, Wis., with burial to follow in Faith Lutheran Church Cemetery, Town of Scott. Visitation will be one hour before services Friday at the church.
Stephen was born Nov. 24, 1951, in Escanaba, Mich., the son of Donald George and Anna Mae (Thompson) Anderson. Steve graduated from Merrill High School in 1971. He married Charlene Kaye Pester on Feb. 3, 1973, in Merrill, Wis. He worked for Ward Paper Mill in Merrill from 1973 until 1994, and from 1994 until present at Cedar River Paper Company in Cedar Rapids, as a shift supervisor. Steve enjoyed camping, golfing, riding his motorcycle, watching the Packers and most of all spending time with his many friends and family.
Steve is survived by his wife, Charlene; two sons, Jeremy (Melissa) Anderson of Cedar Rapids and Nicolas (Leesa) Anderson of Ely; two grandchildren, Kylie Mae and Aiden John Anderson; his father, Don Anderson of Merrill; three brothers, Marty (Sharon) Anderson, Warren (Julia) Anderson and Paul (Jan) Anderson, all of Merrill; and sisters, Vic Anderson of Marshfield, Wis., Barb (Gary) Emerich of Merrill, Mary (Rick) Griep of Marshfield, Donna (Scott) Specht of Merrill and Susan (Bill) Soper of Marshfield; brothers-in-law, Bryan (Susan) Pester of Wausau, Wis., Mark (Pam) Pester and Todd (Cami) Pester, both of Merrill; a sister-in-law, Sherry (Dan) Wayda of Schofield, Wis.; as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Anna Mae Anderson; and two infant children.
A memorial fund has been established.
