Stephanie Marie (Jensen) Garza, 52, passed away peacefully on Monday, Jan. 22, 2018, at her home in Boerne, Texas, after a 10-year battle with breast cancer.

She was born March 20, 1965, in Madison, Wis., to Richard Jensen and Julia Hargrave. She was a 1983 graduate of Tipton High School in Tipton, Iowa. After a year as an on-air personality at WKZO, Kalamazoo, Mich., Stephanie graduated with honors from Western Michigan University with a Bachelor of Science in music. She then moved to Austin, Texas, to further pursue life in music. But her caring for people led to a career in special education. She married Xavier Garza in 1996, and they later divorced. Together, they had two children, Xavier and Z Stefan.

Stephanie was a devoted mother, sister, daughter and aunt. She had an open heart, and her wisdom, voice and love touched many.

She is survived by sons, Xavier and Z Stefan; father, Richard (Candace Wong) Jensen; mother, Julia Hargrave; sister, Alicia (David) Fraseur, and children, Julia and Joseph; sister, Greta (Kirby) Bierman, and children, Samuel, Franklin, Rachel and Elizabeth; and brother, Curtis Jensen, and children, Justine (Austin) Wood, Cash and Shane.

A memorial service will be held at St. Mark Presbyterian Church, 208 West Bandera Rd., Boerne, Texas, on Friday, Feb. 2, at 2 p.m. A second Celebration of Life event will be held in Tipton, Iowa, in the summer.
