Stepanek, Jerry W.
Jerry W. Stepanek, 81, of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, Jan. 13, 2011, at Mercy Medical Center. A visitation will be held at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel on Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. Inurnment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Survivors include his children, Doug (Jan) Stepanek of Golden Valley, Minn., and Sheri (Harley) Williams of Marion; brother, Jim Stepanek of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Andy (Holly) Williams, Ashley Williams, Matt and Jake Stepanek; and great-grandchildren, Rian Williams and Wyatt Stepanek.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and wife, Jean.
Jerry was born Sept. 1, 1929, in Swisher, to Jerry and Hazel (Silver) Stepanek. He graduated from Shueyville High School and married Jean Beretta in 1954. She died in 1996. He retired after 35 years from FMC.
Jerry was a member of the Moose Lodge and Elks Lodge. He loved antique cars, especially his 1936 5-window Ford Coupe. He enjoyed bird woodcarving and sports, especially the Hawkeyes. His greatest love was for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
