Stejskal, Vernita J.
Vernita J. Stejskal, 88, of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, May 10, 2012, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 16, at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling St. SW. Burial will follow in Czech National Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 until 7 p.m. Tuesday at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids.
Vernita was born Jan. 23, 1924, in rural Ely, the daughter of John and Blanche (Suchomel) Lnenicka. She married George Stejskal on Feb. 25, 1941, in Cedar Rapids. She worked at Wilson's Packing, Collins Radio and Quaker Oats, and was the manager at Dairy Maid when she retired.
She loved camping, fishing, boat riding, and spending time with her friends and family. She was a member of the VFW Womens Auxilary Unit 788.
Vernita is survived by a daughter, Lana Jean (Dennis) Cobb of Solon; two grandsons, Brian D. Cobb (Brittany Albert) and Todd J. Cobb; a sister, Marilyn (Jerry) Jandik of Cedar Rapids; and many nieces and nephews, as well as special friends, Bruce Jones, Sandy Williams, and Robert Williams.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George Stejskal on Nov. 11, 2006; and sisters, Dolores Ralston, Ann Sharf and Evelyn Mikulecky.
