Steiner, Rosalynd 'Rosie'
Rosalynd “Rosie” Steiner, 74, of Monticello, died Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2009, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids, following a brief illness. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 22, at First Presbyterian Church, Monticello, with interment in Oakwood Cemetery. The Rev. Al Polito will officiate at the services. Friends may call from 9 until service time at the church. The Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello, is caring for Rosie and her family.

Surviving are two children, Reid (Rose) Adamson, Phoenix, and Julie Gassman, Monticello; four grandchildren, Angela South, Jamie Smith, Jason Draggo and Brandon Gassman; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Robert Adamson, Rockford, Ill., and Tom Adamson, Freemont, Neb.; and her former son-in-law, Kyle Gassman.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Mark Sokol in 1983; her twin brother, Raymond in 2009; a brother, Grant; and a sister, Elaine Sills.
Rosalynd Adamson was born April 27, 1936, at Monticello, Iowa, the daughter of Clayton R. and Myrtle F. Bartlett Adamson. Rosie graduated from Monticello Community Schools in 1954. Rosie married Henry Sokol in 1962. While he was serving in the Navy the family lived in Albuquerque, N.M., Monticello and Phoenix. Rosie moved back to Monticello following her divorce from Henry. She married Richard Steiner on Feb. 16, 1974, at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church. The couple lived in Monticello and Maquoketa. They divorced in 1986. Rosie worked at a motel in Maquoketa before returning to Monticello. She then worked as a bartender at Lou's Place and did office work at Mediacom. She retired in 1997. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Monticello, where she was an elder and deacon. She had also been active in the VFW Auxiliary.
