Steffen, Eugene J. 'Gene'
Eugene J. “Gene” Steffen, 75, of 306 Fourth Ave. NE, Farley, died 1:25 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 13, 2013, at Finley Hospital in Dubuque, from complications of a recent stroke. Friends and relatives of Gene may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 21, at Reiff Funeral Home in Farley, where a prayer service will be held at 4 p.m. and the Farley American Legion Auxiliary will meet at 6:30 p.m. Services for Gene will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Farley, with the Rev. John Haugen presiding. Burial will be held at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Farley.
He is survived by his wife, Catherine “Kay” Steffen of Farley; three children, Cindy (Dave) Thul of Marion, Lisa (Dan) Autey of Grafton, Wis., and Steve Steffen of Bettendorf; five grandchildren, Bryan, Michael and Katie Thul, Tanner and Jaden Autey; two sisters, Rita Willenbring of Farley and Kay Naber of Winthrop; a brother-in-law, Harold “Moose” Maiers of Earlville; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Ken (Jean) Kramer of Dubuque, Ron (Renee) Kramer of Iowa City and Mary (Tim) Pins of Dyersville; several nieces and nephews; and his companion, his dog, Jake.
