Steffen, Dolores B.
Dolores B. Steffen, 92, of Dyersville, died Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2013, at Oak Crest Manor, Dyersville. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 13, Kramer Funeral Home in Dyersville, where a vigil service will be held at 6 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, at St. Francis Xavier Basilica in Dyersville, with burial in the church cemetery. The Rev. Noah Diehm will officiate.
Dolores was born July 7, 1921, in Luxemburg, Iowa, the daughter of Peter and Catherine (Saban) Bries. She married Clarence Steffen on Jan. 3, 1940, in Luxemburg. Together they farmed near Luxemburg until 1952, when they moved to Dyersville. Dolores worked for Evers Food Store for seven years and LaVerne's Style Shop for 13 years, both in Dyersville. She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Resurrection Choir for 25 years.
Survivors include her five children, Lester Steffen of Omaha, Neb., Delbert Steffen and Allan (Lindee) Steffen, both of Dyersville, Shirley Gumingo of Minneapolis, Minn. and Nancy Steffen of Crystal Lake, Ill. four grandchildren, Todd (Becky) Steffen and Tricia (Jeff) Maiers, both of Dyersville, Tracy Steffen of Dubuque and Matthew Steffen of Aguanga, Calif.; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clarence; and in-laws, Frances (Leon) Klein, Clara (John) Burbridge, Edmund (Anna Mae) Steffen, Albert (Leone) Steffen and Esther (Donald) Ries.
