STANLEY T. NAPPE Norway Stanley T. Nappe, 93, of Norway, Iowa, passed away on Monday, Dec. 26, 2016, at his home. Private family graveside service at Norway Cemetery, Norway, Iowa. Arrangements by Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Survivors include his wife, Betty Nappe of Norway, Iowa; sons, Gary Nappe of Norway, Iowa, and Wayne (Jeanne Muellerleile) Nappe of Monticello, Iowa; daughter, Margo Nappe of Blairstown, Iowa; sister, Alice Kambanos of Glendale, Ariz.; brother, Donald (Carol) Nappe of Northwood, Iowa; grandchildren, Allison M. (Kel Vin Woo) Nappe of St. Louis, Mo., Nick Fisher of Blairstown, Iowa, and Noah Fisher of Blairstown, Iowa. Stan was preceded in death by his parents and six siblings. Stan was born on July 14, 1923, in Joice, Iowa, son of Tollef and Hannah (Vange) Nappe. Stan and Betty were united in marriage on Aug. 4, 1950, in Albert Lea, Minn. He worked as a communications lineman for the Chicago Northwestern Railroad for over 30 years. Big Stan lived life the way he chose. A terrifically talented man, Stan could be found building, fixing and creating like few men before him. A member of the greatest generation, drafted into the armed forces, Stan served in Patton's army and saw action in the Battle of the Bulge, as well as participating in the liberation of Nazi concentration camps. Strong until the end, Stan possessed a soft and caring side when it came to his family and friends. Stan lived and died under his own terms. He will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers, please honor Stan's memory by showing a random act of kindness to a family member or stranger. Please share a memory of Stan at www.murdochfuneralhome.com under obituaries.
