Stanford Ray Beebe, 83, of Hagerstown, Md., formerly of Central City, died Saturday, May 14, 2016, at his son's home on Gwynn's Island in Virginia. Graveside services for family will be held Friday, May 20.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sharon (Cooley) Beebe; and brother, Dale.
He is survived by his children, Stacey (Beebe) McCarty and Steve Beebe; brothers, Foch, Jack and Hal; and sisters, Dixie and Jean.
He was born Feb. 22, 1933, in Central City, Iowa. He was the son of the late Ivan and Melissa (Waters) Beebe. Mr. Beebe received his BS from the University of Iowa and a master's in finance from American University. He was as a general contractor for Charleston Builders, Washington, D.C., and then for his own company, SB Corporation. Mr. Beebe served as a captain in the Maryland National Guard Special Forces.
He was a member of the University of Iowa Alumni. He was a published author. His character, humor and wisdom is greatly missed.
