Stanerson, Florence
Florence Stanerson, 93, of Marengo, died Monday, Nov. 5, 2012, at Rose Haven Nursing Home, Marengo. Celebration of Life Service: 10:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 9, St. John's Lutheran Church, Marengo. Interment: Marengo Cemetery. Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the church.
A memorial fund has been established.
Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo is in charge of arrangements.
Florence was born in 1919 near Grinnell, the daughter of Howard M. and C. Annetta Olson Latcham. A 1937 Grinnell High School graduate, she taught in the country schools. She married Wayne Stanerson on June 5, 1940 at Grinnell. They farmed near Koszta from 1947 to 1962 before moving to Marengo. Mrs. Stanerson and Fern Timm co-owned Home Decorating Center for 13 years. She enjoyed her family, cooking, sewing, golfing and was known for her fall craft bazaars held in their home for 17 years.
Florence is survived by a daughter, Karen (Harold) Joseph, Williamsburg; a son, Ron (Mary Jane) Stanerson, Marengo; nine grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great grandchildren; and two brothers, Gail of Montezuma and Lyle John of Grinnell.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Wayne in 2001; a brother, Merle; a great-grandson, Colton Crawford; and twin great-granddaughters, Lauren and Emma Stanerson.
