Stanley Duane "Bill" Lamb, 89, of Ely, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2018, at
St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids after a lengthy illness. There will be a celebration of life scheduled at a later date. Arrangements by Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Rosemary Lamb of Ely; daughters, Deborah Lashbrook of Wichita, Kan., Theresa (Randy) Hunt of Ely and Kelly Lamb of Ely; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Duane was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Wava Lamb; and his siblings, Donna, Helen and Doug.
Duane was born Aug. 8, 1928, in Bloomfield, Iowa, the son of Stanley and Wava (Spear) Lamb. Duane married Rosemary Durler on April 28, 1956, in Cedar Rapids. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War, aboard the USS Midway. Duane worked as a welder at Cherry-Burrell in Cedar Rapids for 32 years.
Duane enjoyed working with his hands, caring for their acreage, hunting and watching Iowa/Iowa State sports as well as the St. Louis Cardinals. Later in life, Duane enjoyed spending time with his five grandchildren and 10 great-grandkids. Duane will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to The Salvation Army.
