Stallman, John C. 'Jake'
John C. “Jake” Stallman, 94, of Fairfax, died at Hallmar Care Center in Cedar Rapids on Wednesday, May 18, 2011. Funeral Mass: 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Fairfax, by the Rev. Dustin Vu. Interment: St. Patrick Cemetery, Fairfax. A rosary will be recited at 4 p.m. today at the church, where friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Saturday. Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel, Cedar Rapids, is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Marcella; daughter, Jacqueline Stallman of Fairfax; and two sisters-in-law, Rose and Erma Stallman, both of Fairfax.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Louis, Ben, Bert, Raymond and George Stallman; and two sisters, Luella Frimml and Dolores Zamastil.
Jake was born April 29, 1917, in Fairfax, to John and Anna (Schulte) Stallman. He married Marcella Deeny there on Sept. 24, 1960. Jake, George, and Raymond farmed together on the family farm. They raised Black Angus cattle and showed hogs.
Jake was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Fairfax LA Club, and St. Patrick Catholic Church, Fairfax. He was an avid gardener and a fan of the St. Louis Cardinals.
Memorials may be made to Blessed John the XXIII Catholic Church, the Fairfax Fire Department, or Tanager Place.
The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff at Hallmar Care Center for the kind care given to Jake.
