Stallman, Irene Marie
Irene Marie Stallman, 76, of Evergreen Estates II, died Sunday, July 22, 2012, at Manor Care Health Services following a courageous battle with cancer and diabetes. Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday, St. Michael Catholic Church, Norway, by the Rev. Craig Steimel. Burial: St. Michael Cemetery. A vigil service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Teahen Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids, where friends may visit from 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and after 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the church.
Survivors include six sisters, Rita (Art) Peck of Fairfield, Mary Jane (Larry) Ockenfels of Swisher, Stella (Richard) Bradke, Celestine Duncalf and Doris (Ed) Ballard, all of Cedar Rapids, and Bea Stallman of East Moline, Ill.; and two brothers, Marvin (Deanna) Stallman of Ely and Terry (Sue) Stallman of Atkins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, Edward, Glenn, Franklin, Louis Jr. and Donald; a niece, Sheryl Stallman; a brother-in-law John Shay; and two sisters-in-law Joan (Johnson) Stallman and Bonnie (Ohlen) Stallman,
Irene was born Feb. 14, 1936, in Norway, the daughter of Louis and Elsie Frimml Stallman and graduated from Norway High School in 1954. She retired in 1991, after 32 years with Rockwell Collins.
Irene enjoyed playing bingo and watching television. Her love of music ranged from country in her younger years to listening to live accordion music in her later years.
Instead of flowers, memorials may be directed to Hospice of Mercy, the American Diabetes Association and the American Cancer Society.
