Stacy Gwyn Spencer, 59, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away Sunday, Dec. 5, 2021, with family by her side in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. A private family Celebration of Stacy's Life will be Saturday, Jan. 22, at Cedar Memorial Park Family Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. A graveside service
will be held in Springfield, Mo., on April 23, 2022. Entrusted with the arrangements is Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Stacy was born Feb. 3, 1962, to Wayne D. and Janet Sue (Hinkle) Spencer in Olathe, Kan. She attended elementary school in Spring Hill, Kan., and graduated from Hartville High School in 1980 after attending the ECCO program in Seymour, Mo.
In high school, she was a member of Beta Club, Jazz Band, Marching Band, Concert Band and Chorus. She played the flute, piccolo, drums and guitar.
She moved with her family to Clearwater, Fla., in 1983 and returned to the Midwest with her mother in 2001, when they moved to Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Stacy served as a reading volunteer in several elementary schools in Seymour, Mo., and Clearwater, Fla. She loved swimming, singing, listening to music, chatting, writing poetry, sitting in the sun and drinking coffee.
Stacy was a great source of encouragement and inspiration to everyone she met. She was a devoted sister and loving aunt who always had an encouraging word for her nieces and nephews. She was dearly loved by her entire family. She was a brain injury survivor since the age of 16.
Stacy is survived by her sisters, Susan (Robert) Hurlburt of Lakeland, Fla., and Peggy (Michael) Emery of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; brother, Mark Ryan (AJ) Spencer of Marion, Iowa; eight nieces and nephews; four great-nieces and great-nephews; and many loving aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one nephew.
She had been a member of Peace Memorial Presbyterian Church in Clearwater, Fla.
In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made in Stacy's memory to a charity of the donor's choice.
