Sproston, Nadine
Nadine Sproston, 86, of Evansville, Ind., passed away Monday, Oct. 10, 2011, at Deaconess Hospice Center. She was born Oct. 11, 1924, to the late John and Dagmar Schneider in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Nadine was a member of Salem United Methodist Church on Kratzville Road. She worked as a bookkeeper at Peterson's Furniture in Cedar Rapids, and also in retail sales at DeJong's, Evansville.
Nadine enjoyed gardening, camping and traveling.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Everett “Art” Sproston; and sisters, Mary Ann Anderson and Eleanor Kosek.
Nadine is survived by her daughter, Michelle Hammond; son, John P. Franklin; daughter, Lani Ethridge; grandchildren, Kerrie Ottomeyer, Jill O'Neill, Brie Swan and Kirstin Ethridge; great-grandchildren, Jessica, Jay, Lauren and Blake Ottomeyer, Anya, Connor and Finn O'Neill; and close family friend, Bob Hape.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 14, at Alexander North Chapel, with burial at Locust Hill Cemetery. Friends may visit Thursday from 3 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Salem UMC, Kratzville Road or Deaconess Hospice.
