Spooner, Eugene W. Jr.

Eugene W. Spooner Jr., 82, a resident of Heritage Nursing and Rehab died Sunday, Feb. 24, 2013, at St. Luke's Hospital after a short illness. Per Eugene's request, there will be no service. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include two sons, Jeffery (Sharon) of Cedar Rapids and James (Mary) of East Moline, Ill.; and two sisters, Arlene and Violet.

He is also survived by four grandchildren, Greg, April, Jeff Jr. and Kaleigh; and three great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Jerry; and two sisters.

Eugene was born on Nov. 16, 1930, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Eugene and Lenora Kepart Spooner Sr. Eugene was a machinist at Henderson Manufacturing and retired from there after more than 30 years of service.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing pool and especially the time spent with family and friends.

Memorial donations may be given to the Alzheimer's foundation in Eugene's name.
