Spencer, Ernestine
Ernestine Spencer, 68, a longtime resident of Waterloo, died Saturday, Nov. 19, 2011, at Crestview Acres Care Center, Marion, following a lengthy illness. Funeral Service: 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 28, 2011, at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 7121 Mount Vernon Rd. SE, Cedar Rapids, by Bernard Willingham. Arrangements by Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion.
Survivors include a daughter, Angela Spencer of Waterloo; granddaughter, Amber Smith of Waterloo; three great-grandchildren; her siblings, Burma (Ed) Willingham of Marion, Craig Spencer and Carol Spencer, both of Waterloo; and many other loving family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Ernestine was born May 8, 1943, the daughter of Percy and Thelma (Micou) Spencer in Waterloo, Iowa. She graduated from East High School in Waterloo in 1962. She later was employed as a secretary for 11 years at Hawkeye Community College in Waterloo. Ernestine was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses in 1967.
