David was born July 27, 1971, in Cedar Rapids, the son of William “Bill” and Janet Gilroy Spellerberg. He graduated from Mount Vernon High School in 1989, and recently attended his 20th class reunion this summer. David graduated with an associate degree in industrial maintenance technology from Kirkwood Community College. David was a member of the Plumber and Pipefitters Union Local 125, Cedar Rapids. David was a devoted member of the Catholic Church. He enjoyed deer hunting with his brothers. David played softball and was an avid Hawkeye fan. He was always willing to help friends and neighbors when they had plumbing problems. He will always be remembered for his smile.
The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses from the SICU at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics for their kindness and compassion during the last four weeks.
