Spaight, Therese
Therese Spaight, 93, of Cedar Rapids, died Friday, Aug. 26, 2011, at the Hiawatha Care Center. Funeral Mass will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 29, at All Saints Catholic Church, with the Rev. David O'Connor officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home, where a vigil will be held at 6 p.m. Friends may also call from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Monday at the church. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include her daughters, Kathy (Len) Skvor of Cedar Rapids and Karen (Dan) Wright of Swisher; grandchildren, Tracy (Mark) Scieszinski, Kristine Skvor, Amy (Scott) Shipley, Megan Wright and Danielle Wright; nine great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Spaight of Cedar Rapids; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joseph Spaight in 1980; and her 12 brothers and sisters.
Therese G. Spaight was born July 16, 1918, in Cedar Rapids, to Frank and Mary (Biskup) Zobl. She married Joseph Spaight on June 12, 1939, at St. Patrick's Church in Cedar Rapids. She was a dedicated homemaker, mother and a long time member of All Saints Catholic Church. Therese was an avid canasta and card player. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandkids.
She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
A memorial fund has been established in her name.
