DUE TO WEATHER CONDITIONS, the memorial gathering has been rescheduled for 2 to 3 p.m. Friday, Dec. 21, at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home, with a memorial service following at 3 p.m.
Jacqueline Ann Spaethe (Jackie), 70, of Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, Dec. 16, 2012, at Willow Gardens Care Center in Marion.
Jackie Spaethe was born Sept. 6, 1942, in Ottumwa, Iowa, the daughter of Ed and Dorothy (Rocket) Gill. She attended Ottumwa High School. She worked at the Canteen Catering Service in Marion for many years and later became an in home care assistant to the elderly. She will be best remembered for her smile, love for her Kitty, Kea Kea; her quick witted opinion; and her enduring love of her only son, Donnie.
Jackie was preceded in death by her sister, Sandy Majors of Ottumwa; and sister, Patricia McGrew.
She is survived by her son, Don Spaethe of Grayslake, Ill.; three grandchildren, Brad Spaethe (26), Oak Creek, Wis., Breanna Spaethe (20), Chicago and Jayden Spaethe (11), Grayslake, Ill.; Nannette Spaethe, Grayslake, Il., whom she loved like a daughter; niece, Nan Parker, Texas; a nephew, Rich Penrod of Cedar Rapids; and a great-granddaughter whom is to arrive later this year, Ashlynn Rose Spaethe.
A memorial gathering will be held from 2 to 3 p.m. Friday, Dec. 21, at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home, with a memorial service celebrating Jackie's life following at 3 p.m. Chaplain Jeremy Hudson officiating.
