Soska, Helen Margaret
Helen Margaret Soska, 91, of Reinbeck, died from complications of a stroke Monday, Nov. 9, 2009, at Parkview Manor in Reinbeck while under the care of Cedar Valley Hospice. Funeral services: 10:30 a.m., Thursday at Union Congregational United Church of Christ Church in Reinbeck, with Pastor Joel Love officiating. Burial: Reinbeck Cemetery. Visitation: today from 5 to 7 p.m. at French Hand Funeral Home in Reinbeck, where the family will be present to greet friends.
Memorials may be made to Cedar Valley Hospice or Parkview Manor in Helen's name.

Helen was born Aug. 28, 1918, in rural Hudson, the daughter of James and Teresa (Kvidera) Kubik. She was born and raised in the Voorhies area, attended rural grade school in Voorhies and graduated from Reinbeck High School in 1936. After high school graduation, Helen attended Gates Business College graduating in 1939. On Nov. 29, 1945, Helen was united in marriage to William Soska in Traer. They farmed near Voorhies until they retired and then moved to Reinbeck.
She worked in her home most of her life. She loved playing cards, golfing, dancing, cross stitching. Helen loved attending to her children's and grandchildren's sporting events and other activities. But most of all, she enjoyed sharing time with her family and friends. Helen was a member of United Church of Christ in Reinbeck and Sunny View Club.
She is survived by her husband, William of Reinbeck; daughters, Nancy (Phil) Lauterbach of Reinbeck, and Kathryn “Kate” Soska of Iowa City; grandchildren, Andy Lauterbach, Bret (Jill) Lauterbach, Ross (Amanda) Soska; great-grandchildren, Kyle Koppen, Lohgan Lauterbach, and Mason Soska; and a sister, Lillian Williamson of Sigourney.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents; son, John; and brother, Lester Kubik.
