Sorensen, Gladys 'Trudy'
Gladys “Trudy” Sorensen, 78, of Cedar Rapids, was promoted to Glory Friday, Aug. 30, 2013, at Mercy Medical Center. Per her wishes, her body was donated to the University of Iowa Deeded Body Program. Memorial Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at The Salvation Army, 1000 C Ave. NW, by Capt. Ronnie Amick. Teahen Funeral Home is serving the family.
Trudy is survived by her four children, Steve of Vacaville, Calif., and Neil (Stephanie), Donnell (Tim) Hoppes, and Eric, all of Cedar Rapids; nine grandchildren; 5.5 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Iris Hegge of Battleground, Wash., and Phyllis Brewer of Westwood, Calif.; and many others who she loved dearly.
She was preceded in death by two brothers and five sisters.
Gladys “Trudy” was born Jan. 12, 1935, in Big Stone County, Minn., the daughter of James and Esther (Larson) Green. Trudy went to Clinton School in Minnesota and then graduated from the College for Officers Training for The Salvation Army. She married Donald Sorensen on June 25, 1956, in Clinton, Minn.; they later divorced. She spent most of her life tending to and taking care of her family.
Trudy loved to play cards and Scrabble, but most of all she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
