Sophia A. Danner, 99 years, 312 days, of Muscatine, passed away Friday, Aug. 28, 2015, at Lutheran Living in Muscatine. Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 1, at Sts. Mary and Mathias Catholic Church. Father Troy Richmond will be the celebrant. Burial will be at Muscatine Memorial Park Cemetery. Following the interment, a time of food and fellowship will be held at Gannon Hall. Visitation for Sophia will be Monday, Aug. 31, from 4 to 7 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary service and time of sharing at Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services.
A memorial has been established at the funeral home in Sophia's name.

Sophia Ann Lindle was born Oct. 19, 1915, in Muscatine County, the daughter of Edward and Katherine (Bernick) Lindle. She was a graduate of St. Mathias High School in 1933, graduate of Muscatine Junior College in 1935 and received her bachelor's from Clark College in Dubuque in 1937. Sophia was Miss Muscatine 1933. Before her marriage she was a social worker, math teacher, census taker and office worker at Swift. She was a bookkeeper at KWPC radio and voice of the Highland Potato Chip Girl on KWPC in the 1940s.
On Aug. 9, 1950, Sophia was united in marriage to Ralph M. Danner at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Davenport. She helped farm Maple Grove Farm with her husband, Ralph.
She was a Girl Scout leader, 4-H leader, member of Muscatine County Extension 4-H Youth Committee, Herb Pals, Farm Bureau and Garden Club, and also babysat her grandchildren. Sophia enjoyed crocheting, gardening, flowers and baking.
Sophia will be deeply missed by her three sons, John E. (Mary) Danner of Letts, Myron L. (Kathleen) Danner of Burwell, Neb., and Ralph M. (Kathy) Danner Jr. of Muscatine; one daughter, Theresa (George) Ludeking of Norway, Iowa; six grandsons, Miles (Becky) Danner, Ben (Monica) Danner, Jerome ( Karrie) Danner, Cole (Mandy) Danner, Jacob Ludeking and Alexander Ludeking; six granddaughters, Stephanie (Chad) Lukavsky, Molly (Aaron) Summers, Roseanne Danner, Megan Danner, Jacklyn Danner and Morgan Danner; four great-grandchildren, Dalton Lukavsky, Bailey Danner, Madison Danner and Gideon Summers; and sister-in-law, Jean (Jerry) Phelps of Rock Island, Illi.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ralph, in 2007; one sister, Bernice Lindle; and one brother, Edward Lindle.
