Sonia E. Bye, 77, of Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday, April 16, 2014, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha. Services: 1 p.m. Saturday, April 19, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Tim Ferry. Family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, April 18, and from 10:30 a.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her husband, Garry Bye of Cedar Rapids; sons, Kevin and Kyle (Julie), both of Cedar Rapids; four grandchildren, Michelle, Zach, Alex and Jordan; siblings, Gwendolyn (Leo) Miller of Danville, Iowa, Harold (Vi) Marshall of Irwin, Pa., and Richard (Mary) Marshall of Montrose, Iowa; and a sister-in-law, Maxine Marshall.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Kerry; daughter-in-law, Megan; two brothers, Bob and Jim Marshall; and two sisters, Sylvia (Bill) Davis and Lana (Bud) Metinger.
Sonia was born Feb. 14, 1937, in Keokuk, Iowa, daughter of Albert and Eunice (Newhouse) Marshall. She married Garry Bye on March 10, 1957, in Montrose. Sonia was the manager at Metco Credit Union until her retirement in 2002.
She loved crafts, camping trips and was a member of the "500" club.
