Sondra "Sandy" Zeck, 77, of Decorah, formerly of Marion, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2018, at Aase Haugen Senior Services in Decorah. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel Stateroom. Services will be held at 3 p.m. Monday at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Inurnment will follow at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Sandy was born on Feb. 16, 1941, to Robert and Faye Giffin McVicker in Elton, Pa. She was united in marriage to Walter "Sonny" Henry Zeck Jr. on Sept. 18, 1959, in Toledo, Ohio. They enjoyed 67 years of friendship, 58 of those years married. She was a member of First Assembly of God.
She enjoyed baking, cooking, basket weaving and making ceramics. Sandy and Sonny cherished their trips to the national parks throughout the United States. She was a lover of nature, mountains and the great outdoors.
Her greatest passions were spending time with her grandchildren, and sitting and talking with anyone. Sandy was an amazing listener. She forever will be remembered for her gracious and loving manner for everyone and for her dedication to her family and friends. Sandy was like a mom to everyone.
She is survived by her husband, Sonny; children, Ellen (Michael) Vance of Decorah, Walter Henry Zeck III of Cedar Rapids, Joan (Michael) Brown of Brandon, Robert (Jill) Zeck of Cedar Rapids, James Zeck of Calamus and Linda Wheeler of Las Vegas, Nev.; siblings, Robert (Carol) McVicker and John (Mary) McVicker, both of Toledo, Ohio, and James (Kathy) McVicker of Rossford, Ohio; sister-in-law, Luana McVicker of Toledo, Ohio; special dog companion, Winston; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and many loving nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Sandy was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Beverly Morcrum and Marilyn Monroe; and her brother, Jeffrey McVicker.
Memorial donations may be directed to the Aase Haugen Senior Services in Decorah.
