Sondra Lee Crawford, 74, died peacefully Monday, April 23, 2018, at Briarwood Care Center. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday, April 27, at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service, Iowa City, with the Rev. Carol Potter officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Sondra Crawford memorial fund or to Friends of the Animal Center Foundation.
Sondra was born May 6, 1943, in Des Moines, the daughter of William and Susie Moore Wilson Sr. She was a graduate of Des Moines Technical High School and received her medical assistant certificate from Kirkwood Community College. On June 12, 1961, Sondra married Richard Crawford.
Sondra was employed at VAMC as a medical clerk for 26 years, prior to that she worked at UIHC. She enjoyed time spent bowling and going to the casino. Sondra had been a director on the Iowa City Women's Bowling Association.
Sondra is survived by her daughter, Judith "Judy" (Wade) McNair of Iowa City; her grandchildren, Giles (Kim) McNair and Cari McNair (James Hladik), both of Virginia Beach, Va.; her great-granddaughter Belle; and four siblings, Shirley Caster, William Wilson Jr., Laura (Charles) Wasserman and Neva Anderson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her son, Jeffrey; and her brother, Charles.
